Description Miikka Salminen 2008-11-24 21:01:29 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I have to display units. The main display is 1680x1050 and the display on the left is 1280x1024.

When I maximize a window on the left (smaller) display, about ten pixels of emptiness showing the background are left on the bottom of the screen. I have no taskbars or any other widgets on the left side display.

Does it occur after running "kquitapp plasma" in a terminal?
Does it occur on a new user that hasn't changed any settings?
Comment 2 Miikka Salminen 2008-11-25 11:05:25 UTC
Seems it doesn't occur after "kquitapp plasma". When plasma is running, however, the behaviour returns.

Apparently it also occurs on new users.

Looks like the amount of empty pixels depends on the height of my taskbar, which is on the other display.

what does this have to do with plasma, other than it goes away when plasma isn't reserving struts? this is a kwin problem, where it doesn't respect struts per-screen but as one combined area, is it not?

if plasma is able to fix this, please tell me how and i'll do it. but i understood that even if we only reserve a strut that spans a given screen, kwin will still reserve that space on other screens as well. no?
