Description Jaime Torres 2008-11-20 17:04:07 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

With kmail 1.10.90 (kde trunk r886196), when the quota (or $HOME filesystem) is almost complete (4K free), and I close kmail, messages like:

The UID cache file for folder <account>/INBOX/<folder> could not be read. There could be a problem with file system permission, or it is corrupted.

appeared.

At the next start:

* all the Incoming Accounts are lost
* the local folder is empty

and as a minor problem
* the tip of the day is enabled again. :-)
Comment 1 Jaime Torres 2008-11-25 10:38:52 UTC
Fortunately, the local folders are back (do not know what makes then back :-( )
Comment 2 Jaime Torres 2008-12-02 12:12:17 UTC
Very related to comment #5 in bug 174756
Comment 3 Salvo "LtWorf" Tomaselli 2009-02-14 09:52:17 UTC
To me, it deleted the entire configuration. Identities, toolbars...
Comment 4 Salvo "LtWorf" Tomaselli 2009-02-14 09:53:51 UTC
Oh a segmentation fault occurred too. I had 0 bytes free.

I lost all settings and accounts too (except identities)

The DIMAP accounts lost the entire disk cache
Comment 10 David Todd 2009-03-18 11:27:27 UTC
I also lost my incoming accounts (but not outgoing or messages). I was copying a large amount of data from an external drive which filled up my /home directory. When Kmail tried to retrieve mail I got a message something like "unable to retrieve messages due to insufficient disk space Kmail will now close". This message appeared for each account that was 'deleted'!
Comment 11 David Todd 2009-03-18 12:54:35 UTC
I have just notice that all my filters have also been deleted!
Comment 12 raa 2009-07-13 10:22:00 UTC
I lost my incomming accounts too on KMail 1.11.2. And my home directory was full. In addition my incoming folder view was reset.
And also my plasma panel settings and applets was lost.

Same here: home partition was full, all incoming accounts deleted. Identities and outgoing accounts still there. Plasma config deleted. And most of all: Kmail filters deleted. This is *really* annoying!

Using KDE 4.3.0, KMail Version 1.12.0, Kubuntu Jaunty. Binary Packages from kubuntu.org for KDE 4.3. Ubuntu updates and backports aKtivated.

Is there a way to get the old settings back?

Since this bug causes data loss why is not marked with Severity Critical?
Comment 17 Jaime Torres 2009-12-06 02:21:43 UTC
The configuration loss (including Incoming accounts) is fixed (bug 169132).
Fortunately I have not had an almost full $HOME since a long time, so I can not talk about the local folders.

Comment 19 Bernd Oliver Sünderhauf 2012-11-23 03:35:12 UTC
Has been confirmed for kmail2 in Comment #15.
Don't know if it still happens in later versions than 4.3, though.
Please reassign to kmail2 anyway.

Oh sorry, I'm wrong. My fault. :(
Still waiting to be confirmed for kmail2.

We don't have same method in kdepim-akonadi.
I close it
