I have found a configuration that's correct (see the first part of the attached image): Nouvelle, Ouvrir, Nouveau à partir d'un modèle | Enregistrer, Enregistrer sous | Fermer | Annuler, Refaire With this configuration, icons don't move when I close a file, but if I add an icon, like that (see the second part of the attached image): Nouvelle, Ouvrir, Nouveau à partir d'un modèle | Enregistrer, Enregistrer sous | Fermer | Annuler, Refaire, Définir un signet icons begin to move each time I close a file (see the last part of the attached image). Reproducible in trunk r872864. As soon as I add an icon to the katePartView toolbar.
Just for info: it happens also in KDE3, i.e. long term bug.
Yes, I have this bug since years.
This bug has been reported for KDE 4.1.2. I suffer from toolbar icon placement change daily on KDE 4.3.3 with Kate 3.3.3. Is it so hard to fix displaying icons in text editor?!?
