Version: (using KDE 4.1.2) Installed from: Mandriva RPMs There was an option in Konqueror in KDE3 to paste clipboard contents as new file with prompt for it's name. Now we must create and open file before paste. This option could be added also to Dolphin.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm changing the severity to 'wishlist' and the product to 'Dolphin' because Konqueror uses Dolphin's file management code (although it might be necessary to change the context menu in both applications separately; I'm not sure about that).
What is the current status of this bug? Is someone working on it? ;-) Now there is inconsistency with Folder View plasmoid which has this feature so I think that this small but very useful thing should be added also here...
(In reply to comment #2) > What is the current status of this bug? Is someone working on it? ;-) Actually, I looked into this just a few days ago and also realized that the feature is implemented in FolderView (and with not too much effort, it uses code in kdelibs that does practically all the work). I'll ask Peter (the Dolphin maintainer) how to best implement this in Dolphin when I have a bit more time and try to come up with a patch. Anyway, I think the feature can't be implemented before KDE 4.3 because the 4.2.x branch is in bugfix-only mode and because the implementation of this feature might also require new strings (which have to be translated into dozens of languages), depending on how it is implemented.
Thanks for reply. :-) I know about all these problems with changes in translateable strings after strings freeze and I can wait for KDE 4.3 (I'm already waiting for this for some releases already ;-)) but if it could be possible (by at least temporary reuse of some strings, like from create file dialog, for selecting name of file, and if possible copying or moving to common place action string from that plasmoid, using kind of script on .po files) it would be very nice, but if it is not, it just can wait. ;-)

David Faure has implemented this feature for KDE 4.3: http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=931496 I can confirm that it works fine in the trunk versions of Dolphin and Konqueror :-)
Thank you very much. :-)
