Version: (using KDE 3.5.9) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Bug 108812 has reappeared in KDE 3.5.9 (or it was never completely fixed). Qt: 3.3.8b KDE: 3.5.9 Konqueror: 3.5.9 When manually editing the username or host part of an sftp:// URL in the address bar after having successfully authenticated to one site, the autocompletion tries to reauthenticate with the partially edited username and hostname as each character is typed (or deleted). A dialog box then pops up saying "Error encountered while talking to ssh." If the user is not logged in to the remote system, the autocompletion should just simply supply matching recently visited URLs (if there are any). Only if the user is already logged in by his/her own action should the autocompletion be allowed to browse the remote filesystem. For security reasons: in no event should an auto-completion mechanism ever trigger an attempt to initiate any sort of user authentication to a remote site.
Bug 108812 was fixed for KDE-4.2, as I said in comment #10. You're using 3.5.9. 3.5.9 < 4.2, so obviously 3.5.9 doesn't have the fix. Please upgrade to KDE 4.4. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 108812 ***
