Version: (using KDE 3.5.6, Kubuntu (feisty) 4:3.5.6-0ubuntu14) Compiler: Target: powerpc-linux-gnu OS: Linux (ppc) release 2.6.20-16-powerpc When trying to print PDFs from within konqueror, I sometimes get this error message: --- A print error occurred. Error message received from system: cupsdoprint -P 'PanasonicLaser' -J '' -H '/var/run/cups/cups.sock:631' -U 'grexe' -o ' copies=1 media=A4,Normal,Upper orientation-requested=3 sides=two-sided-long-edge' '/tmp/kde-grexe/konquerorKRnusb.ps' : execution failed with message: client-error-request-value-too-long --- I am using the hpijs5 PCL-driver usually without problems, but kdeprintd/cups is not very stable for me. When printing several documents, the print-system mostly stops working and refuses to print further documents (usually, kdeprintd is not available anymore and I get an error that it cannot be reached, see seperate bugreport). Using KDE 3.5.6 on MacPPC, but also get similar problems on KDE 3.5.7 on x86.
It would be nice if you could upload an example PDF that gives you this error. Otherwise this bug can not be verified easily. (Note to self: Setting timeout for additional feedback to this bug to 2007-07-01)
Please also have a look at bug #146417 (which I closed as INVALID just a few minutes ago). This one also said that kprinter on Kubuntu 3.5.6 on Feisty didn't work properly.
Sorry the formulation was misleading. The problem is not with printing existing PDFs, but with producing PDFs using the PDF-driver (e.g. to convert HTML-pages in Konqueror to PDFs). The bug may be related to bug #40294 (spaces in filename) and bug #145223 (gs returns errors). The problem seems to be long filenames and/or filenames with spaces (or maybe also special/accented characters).
KDEPrint is obsolete, unmaintained and will never be revived. Closing all open bugs.
