Description d3m3ntu 2007-03-08 21:21:22 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

On menu choice "Open Link in New Tab" the tabs are open instantly if Konqueror is opened in background. If Konqueror is not opened a new tab is open from 2 seconds up. I hope i didn't do something wrong with my system. Thanks

I don't know if closing Konqueror would make the tabs open even slower, I get the ~2 second delay even with Konqueror open.

I guess the delay is there to wait for KHTML to have the page open. However I think it's bad usability-wise, ideally I think the tab should open instantly and if necessary, show a blank page until there's something to show, to give the user immediate feedback for clicking a link. There was a similar bug for Konqueror some years ago, BTW.

I don't know if this is better in KDE 4, since I don't use it yet...

Opening tabs is slow in KDE 4 too (look at bug #193682)
