When you install 7-Zip, it's not integrated into Ark, in other works if you want to compress a file using 7-Zip in Ark, you can't. You can't extract a 7-Zip file using Ark either. As 7-Zip is an open-source and patent-free compressor, and also because it's arguably the strongest compression algorithm, it would be a good idea to integrate it with Ark.

Looking at the code, there is already a check for the exitence of 7zip.
It checks for "7z", "7za", "7zr" in your $PATH

Do you have one of these in your PATH ?
