Description Andrzej 2006-02-15 10:15:35 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: Slackware Packages

7zip (*.7z) archives are not recognized by ark/ konqueror.
Files with .7z extension are not associated with ark.

Even when I open an 7zip archive with context menu "open with" or directly form ark the content of an archive is shown as empty.
No error message is returned.

The same archive I can open with other gui tools like e.g. xarchiver.

This looks like a bug of #48267.
Comment 2 Haris Kouzinopoulos 2006-03-18 20:11:07 UTC
Hi, i can open normaly .7z files with ark. Are you sure that you have the p7zip utility installed? Indeed .7z are not associated with ark, but i dont have the knowledge to fix it. Can someone look at it?

Here it is correctly associated with ark. Which kdelibs version are you using?
Can you check if the MIME-type application/x-7z is installed?

Anyway, support for 7z archives in Ark is broken with recent p7zip versions. I
plan to fix that soon.
Comment 4 Andrzej 2006-03-19 14:54:12 UTC
As mentioned on the beginning of this bug report I use KDE 3.5.1.
I also use p7zip-4.33.

I do have MIME-type application/x-7z but I had to associate it with ark and xarchiver manually.
I rechecked it by deleting ./kde and then viewing KDE control center -> KDE Components -> File Associacions -> application ->x-7z and there was no application associated.

It still doesn't work with KDE 3.5.3.
I checked it with precompiled binaries.

Does 7zip have to be present in the system during KDE compilation?
Comment 6 Andrzej 2007-02-01 00:19:55 UTC
now with 3.5.6 *.7z files are recognized but neither adding nor extracting files works. I receive following error messages:

1) FOR ADDING:

The addition operation failed.

p7zip Cersion 4.43 (locale=pl_PL,Utf16=on,HugeFiles=on,1 CPU)

Are you able to add and extract files from the command line interface?
Comment 8 Andrzej 2007-02-02 16:18:18 UTC
Yes.
I'm able to add and extract files from the command line interface and also when I use Xarchiver frontend.
Should p7zip be present in the system during KDE compilation?

7zip is now supported in trunk.
