(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kcontrol Version: kde2 final Severity: wishlist Installed from: source I think it would be nice if (for system and kwin sounds)we could have sound packages. By this I mean have standard names for sounds that relate to an event on the desktop. All of these sounds could then be packaged up into a compresed arcive and instead of haveing to select each indervidual sound for every event the package could just be selected and installed and all the sounds in that package unpacked and made the sounds that play on events. This would make if far easier to change the sounds for the desktop and would have more desktop themeabilty because themes don't just have to be about look and feel they could be about sound as well. If I haven't made my self clear please email me and I will reexpain my self. But of an example the way sounds can be changed on windows. You just select a theme and all the sounds change. Cheers. I agree with Mark Hillary. It's also a feature I am waiting for. Many users like to do some "tuning" on their desktop. And most of us like to change from time to time the sound theme. Christophe LEFEBVRE
I don't have sound, if i go to KMIX it tells me that Signal 8(SIGFPE) is corupt. I need help on what i can do
I think KDE 3.3 has a generic set of sounds included. Need to look into more though.
i would like to see some kind of integration with knewstuff
With the ease that KDE4 makes it for discovering new things like iconsets and plama themes, this should extend to sounds as well. There isn't even an option to save a scheme!
This bug should probably be reassigned to KDE4's systemsettings application.
