Description Jonathan Ryshpan 2006-11-20 02:19:23 UTC
Version: 0.7 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux

If: I have a Google map displayed in Firefox and select "Capture Mode - Region"

Then: while selecting the rectangle to capture the ksnapshot window does not hide under the map portion of the screen.

The ksnapshot window is (in fact) included in the snapshot, which makes the mode useless in this case.

I would expect the ksnapshot window to disappear while taking the snapshow, as it does in all other cases.

works perfectly here; perhaps you had two copies of ksnapshot open? (i've actually done that before by hitting the "print screen" button one too many times.)

This bug is still present in KDE 3.5.6 . It also occurrs in MapQuest, but not with similar (grabbable) windows in acroread and Google Earth.

To see it be sure that the Ksnapshot control window is entirely contained in the grabbable window -- ie the one in which the cursor turns into a small fist. If the control window is outside the grabbable area, the problem does not appear. If the control window is partly inside and partly outside the grabbable window, the problem may or may not appear -- depending on <I don't know what>.

Same here, on Gentoo with KDE 4.1, when taking a snapshot of anything in region mode ksnapshot SHOUL hide itself...
also, if you move it before pressing new capture and then press "Esc" to cancel it will move itself to the center of the screen. It should go back to its previous location

This bug is still present in KDE 4.2 beta2 (Ksnapshot 0.8.1). It only happens when taking a _zone_ screenshot of a screen with a window (I can't reproduce if only the desktop is shown on the screen). When choosing to take a screenshot of a zone, the a white shape appears on the screen where the Ksnapshot window was located. This white shape is present on the screenshot after saving it.

I see the same bug with KSnapshot: 0.8.1 in region mode over Firefox:
1. under kde all the window does not hide
2. under gnome only window frame does not hide
Qt: 4.4.3
KDE: 4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3)

This bug remains present in 4.2. The window needs to get out of the way of selection.

While I am at it, the selection cursor is often hard to find. It often blends into some graphics. Could we get this larger? Bolder? Neon color? Anything to make it more prominent would help. Thanks.

I have never realized this bug in KDE 3.x though I use/d region capturing very often. But now I stumbled across it in Kubuntu 9.10 with KDE 4.3.2, ksnapshot version 0.8.1. and - BTW - kgrab has the same problem.

No problem here with current firefox, chromium, Google Maps, KDE SC 4.13.4 (Debian Sid) - works as expected, ksnapshot hides, region capures fine.

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years and I will be closing this bug. Spectacle is the replacement for ksnapshot now. Please test again and file a new bug for Spectacle if you still have issues. Thank you!
