Description Richard Bos 2006-11-10 16:06:41 UTC
Version: 1.9.5 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

When I receive an attachment with ics information, I'm not able to import this into korganizer without saving the file. When I save the file and use import in korganizer the information is imported correctly into korganizer (so the data inside the file seems valid).

The first thing I tried in kmail is to 'right click with the mouse' on the attachment. A menu pops up, with among other things open, open with, save and properties.
What misses here is an option like 'import/add to organizer'.

After this I dragged the attachment from the email to the organizer button.
The korganizer schedule meeting pops up, but it contains the
file://tmp/kde-user/..... url, not the contents of that file. A similar bug is
reported in bug #90599.

The ics file contents:
BEGIN:VCALENDAR
VERSION:2.0
METHOD:REQUEST
BEGIN:VEVENT
ORGANIZER:MAILTO:training@domain.com

Perhaps the attachment is not recognized as an ics file?
The attachment has the extension '.ics'. Would this be an indicator that it
is an ics file?

Is it possible to change the title of report to:
"can not import ics attachment into korganizer"
(not added)
Comment 2 Richard Bos 2006-11-11 21:55:13 UTC
I encountered the problem in a vmware instance running kde. I tried to
simulate the problem at a different system, running kde natively and now
kmail shows an invitation form, that I can accept or dismiss. That's
what I expect. For a moment I thought that the problem could that the
email is html formatted, but that does not seem to matter.
Don't know, for now I must assume that the kde session running in vmware
is not running smoothly.

This email does not show the accept calendar box in kmail

Send this email with e.g. 'cat ics2korg | sendmail -t' to a kmail account
(after changing the email address in the file). The ics attachment in the
file, won't be recognized as an email attachment.
Comment 4 Richard Bos 2006-11-12 15:24:37 UTC
converting the email from a dos (with ^M EOL) to unix format, does not
matter. So, that's not the issue here.
Comment 5 Richard Bos 2006-11-12 22:32:47 UTC
I changed the content-type of ics attachment form:
"------=_Part_322_11560498.1163172372332
Content-Type: text/plain; name="Add to Calendar.ics"

to
------=_Part_322_11560498.1163172372332
Content-Type: text/calendar; name="Add to Calendar.ics"

But this does not change anything. It's something else, that works against it.

When I open your mail (without sending it, just with kmail->File->Open) it is seen as normal text attachment (which seems to be ok, as the Conten-Type says that).
When I change the Content-Type to text/calendar and open the mail again (and looking at the HTML style mail), I then see correctly the "You have been invited...accept, etc." body style.
I'm using KDE-3.5.6 (from current SVN Head)
So only the Content-Type is wrong in this mail.
Comment 7 Martin Koller 2009-07-31 14:24:24 UTC
With the correct Content-Type it is still OK in kmail/KDE4.
As the Content-Type is wrong, I'm closing this issue.
