Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4) Installed from: SuSE RPMs I am not sure about intentions. Is auto-select means a) preselect -- great for handicapped people so they can see the mouse cursor is well positioned so the can safely click b) real-select -- in other words auto-click which triggers everything in path of mouse cursor If (b), it is completely useless -- try it with Gwenview on something like PIII 500Mhz. If (a), great, but then even KDE "visit-card", Konqueror violates this policy. Btw. if (b) the Konq. also violates it :-) because it works for icons on the right, but not for icons in the tree and I buy you a six-pack beer if you explain such behaviour to any KDE beginner (and this policy should help such people -- beginners or handicapped). Anyway, please rename the name of this policy and/or please rethink it (according to "help" select means real-select, which is pretty surprising because there is no gain, only problems with mad LMB triggering).
Hi Maciej, what about this? I've not really well understand this bug, is this valid on KDE4 too? If yes, can you explain better the situation? Thanks :-)
Shame on me for writing such ambiguous report! :-( System settings -> mouse & keyboard -> mouse -> single click -> auto select. In KDE4 it simply does not work at all, i.e. after using this option there is no effect, for example in Konqueror/Dolphin.

See bug 298174, where the dolphin maintainer clearly states there is no intention to support this option.
This doesn't exist in the mouse KCM anymore. Arguably your bug is now fixed.
