Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.3) Installed from: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux ... because as it is now, the tray notification's counter will be reset after the specified mark-as-read-timeout. If it's set to 0 and the inbox is empty on message arrival, the notification counter will never even count up, because the message gets selected directly on arrival. So the notification doesn't work. All this only applies when the message preview pane is switched on. I propose to check if kmail has the focus at the time when the message usually should get marked as read, and if not, don't mark it as read. Nobody wants to get messages marked as read, when he/she is not even using (aka not giving the focus to) his/her mail program. Cheers, Patrick.
This bug is still there as of today (KMail 1.9.5, KDE 3.5.5). Confirmed by various people during the bug triage on 2006-10-28. For people who keep many messages in their Inbox, this won't be a problem. But I'm used to move all read messages into an archive folder - so my Inbox is usually empty. I get hit by that bug all the time ;)
