Version: 0.8.2-rc1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux It would be a nice feature if the system screensaver could be a digikam slideshow. In addition to the current slideshow settings available in digikam (e.g. delay time, order, transition effect) there would have to be a way of specifying the photo selection: * a given album * with given tag * more advanced searches For example, I might want the screen saver to show photos with the tag "flowers" in a random order with random transitions. Or, might want photos with tags "landscape" or "wildlife" with the "multi-circle out" transition.

Heh, it would be massively cool to have a screensaver like this for the new FullHD LCD in my living room, to display our 5 star pictures... :-)
This would be great, especially if I was able to say "not this tag" - I have my photo collection as a slideshow screen saver but don't want every single one of them, so being able to select the few photos I don't want to show rather than having to select 99% of the collection would be great.
Created attachment 25041 [details] script to replace xscreensaver-getimage-file and work with digikam
Comment on attachment 25041 [details] script to replace xscreensaver-getimage-file and work with digikam I wrote a little script to show those pictures not having certain tags in the xscreensavers, for example xscreensaver-glslideshow. Edit it to suit your needs, replace xscreensaver-getimage-file with it, and tell xscreensavers where your photos are ( sth. like imageDirectory: /home/goelzera/Documents/BilderimageDirectory: /home/goelzera/Documents/Bilder in ~/.xscreensaver) right now it's a bit dirty, but it works for me.

It would be even cooler if the advanced slideshow plugin could be used as screensaver... (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172386) It has great effects and everything else already included.
I have seen this on a Mac, there is a screensaver that uses image library as screensaver, it starts with an image then zooms out producing another image from library but it is made up from images from your library. Then it just continuasly picks new image and zooms out to it etc. You get the gist. Its pretty impressive :) would be nice to have that as an optional screensaver. Screensaver called Mosaic Screensaver, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59RxuDmNSbE - video someone made demoing it.
