Description Rikardo Tinauer 2006-04-07 14:33:03 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

IMAP account behaves strangely. When fetching mails from IMAP accounts it takes a lot of time and it downloads the messages over and over again, eeach time IMAP refreshes it seems like alllocal messages are cleared and downloaded again. When refreshing IMAP it never stops, so I must kill kontakt

Online IMAP or Disconnected IMAP?
Comment 2 Rikardo Tinauer 2006-04-12 16:30:13 UTC
Online IMAP

Then I need an ethereal log of the communication between kmail and the
server when you click on the folder. Of course only when the communication
is not encrypted.

I'd be happy to provide an ethereal log for this same problem if you can tell me how to do it. I'm using kmail on Kubuntu 5.10 with a Mirapoint IMAP server and it appears that kmail re-downloads and then re-uploads every message in my INBOX every time even a single new message comes in.

By the way, is this a duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122199?
Comment 5 Carsten Burghardt 2006-05-29 14:35:46 UTC
Stephen, when your connection is _not_ encrypted: start kmail, start ethereal, click on the folder where you observe this, stop ethereal, save, done.
Make sure your password is not included in the trace.
