Description Shriramana Sharma 2006-04-05 07:34:44 UTC
Version: 1.9.1 (using KDE 3.5.2 Level "a" , SUSE 10.0 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15-smp

Whether opening the Find dialog via the Tools menu or the context menu of the folder list, once we get find results, we should be able to open the messages listed in the results by just double-clicking the messages.

Currently, we are forced to close the Find window manually and go to the Last Search folder to see the contents of the search results.

If the design of the app demanded that the results should be viewed from the main KMail window only, then there should have been no results list in the Find window and the Find window should have closed by itself.

But there is no such demand. In fact, for maximum user-friendliness, the Find dialog itself should open up the messages when the user double-clicks on a search result.

This suggested behaviour is consistent with the behaviour of the Find Files/Folders window which enables us to open a search result by double-clicking on it.

If I double click on a message in the search result then this message is made the current message in the message list in the main window. Do you expect the message to be shown in a separate message window instead of in the main window?
Comment 2 Shriramana Sharma 2006-04-06 05:26:04 UTC
Precisely. If the Find function and controls were in an area of the main window itself then the current behaviour would be valid, since the change of the current message would be evident in the message page. As it is, however, one expects the message to be shown in a separate window. IMHO there is not much utility of the current behaviour.
