Version:           1.9.1 (using KDE 3.5.1, compiled sources)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.4.5
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.4.31

If the inbox is empty and arrives one new message, Kmail is marking it as Read and won't show the "1" in the systray.
Currently to resolve it I have to keep one junk mail in the inbox to see if there's nothing new.
