Description Ferdinand Gassauer 2006-01-12 13:22:47 UTC
Version: 1.9.1 (using KDE 3.5.0 Level "a" , SUSE 10.0 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15.7-default

IMHO the selected status "new, read, important etc" should be remembered on a per folder basis.

As in "Mark all as Important" ?
Comment 2 Ferdinand Gassauer 2006-01-12 14:56:58 UTC
does this work with comboboxes ?

it could be a flag in the folder settings if the status of the combobox should be remebered or always show "all messages"
Comment 3 Peter Paulsen 2006-02-15 16:13:15 UTC
I don't understand what you mean. Do you want a button that per default marks all mails as e.g. important and per drop down list all other markers= And if I used it e.g. in the folder inbox to mark all mails as read and in the folder dummy to mark them as important when I click on the folder inbox the button should show mark as read as default and when I click on the folder dummy it should show mark as important as default?
Comment 4 Ferdinand Gassauer 2006-02-15 16:22:17 UTC
no no, much simpler

I'd like to see in my inbox only "unread" messages, so I change the status combo to "unread". Fine, now I leave the folder (lets say go to send-mail folder) and come back to "inbox", I want to have the status "unread" again, not "all messages".

I have som other I'd like to see only important mails, same thing.

IMHO kmail should remember the "status combo" per folder.

I'd like to second this one. I use kmail for threaded mail lists. If I click on the lists folder I see all messages with the new ones scattered all through the list. If I set the Status combo box to Unread, I only see the threads with new messages, making it far easier to scan the new subjects.

I'd actually go a little further and add a default status in the folders properties dialog. Then whenever I revisit that folder I see my preferred view regardless of what I was doing last time I visited the folder.

another thing to think about
option show unread AND important messages
but the improtant thing is to "remember" the selected status for each folder!

This option would be useful in KMail/KDE4 as well or should another bugreport be opened?

I changed the version of the bug, that is enough.
BTW, I'm not sure if this is a good idea (at least by default).
Akregator does save its quick filter, and it got a bug report that it would not show all feeds upon restart :D

I'm happy to see this option in Akregator, that's why I second it in KMail as well. I don't understand why to see every old mails/articles by default?
Do you mean https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117788 ? If so, the aim of this bugreport is not clear for me.

Is this not a duplicate of 90029?

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
