Description Ernesto Benestante 2005-12-21 12:05:05 UTC
Version: 1.8.3 (using KDE 3.4.3, Debian Package 4:3.4.3-2 (testing/unstable))
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-1-k7

Context:
- I have a Cyrus IMAP server and use KMail in connected mode.
- I have "mark mails as read after X seconds disabled", all mail state changes are manual.
- I added the "mark all mails a read" button to the toolbar.
- I all my folders ordered by reception date, with newer mail to the bottom.
- I checked the option to jump to the first unrad mail when entering a folder.

The problem goes as follows:
- I move some mails, still marked as new, from some folder to another.
- Here is first thing I notice: some mails are wrongly ordered, with the older mails even if the are very recent. This solves itself after a moment (perhaps when new mail is received in the folder).
- I click on the mark-all-mails-as-read button on the toolbar.
- Here I notice second problem: not all the moved mails are marked as read (also shown in the unread mail count besides the folder name).
- I click again on the mark- all-mails-as-read button. Newly received mail in the folder gets marked as read, but the moved unmarked mails are not.
- I go to another folder and come back to the previous one and try again to mark all mails as read. Only the mails received after the move and the selected mail changes to read state.
- Select another unread mail and click again on the mark-all-as-read button. Behaviour identical to previous point.
- Close KMail and enter again, go to the folder with the problematic mails and click the mark-all-as-read button once again. This times works as expected.

This problem happens systematically when I move new/unread mails from one folder to another.

Thanks!
