Version: 1.8.1 (using KDE 3.4.1, Gentoo) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5-20050130 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.5.20050130-r1, ssp-3.3.5.20050130-1, pie-8.7.7.1) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11-gentoo-r9 What I do: I select a bunch of not filtered SPAM mails in my INBOX and move them to my spam-folder. When I try to "Mark all messages as read" on that folder afterwards, the msgs I just moved stay "unread". This has happened after I updated from KDE 3.3.2 to KDE 3.4.0 and still occurs on KDE 3.4.1. I am using IMAP.

I am using IMAP. Works fine here (moving by keyboard as well as by mouse tested). Something with the index of your spam folder might be wrong. Try to save your messages in an intermediate folder, recreate the spam folder and try once more.
I did a little more testing. But the problem still exists. I created a new folder to test it. Then I marked 10 mails with the mouse and the Shift-key, so the first and the last one gets marked as read. Then I moved them into the new folder. If I click on the folder, the next unread msg will be opened. So 7 stay unread. Then I click with the right MB onto the folder and choose "Mark all msgs as read". And nothing happens. Still 7 unread msgs. If it happens that the folder already contains unread msgs (filtered with sieve on the server side; configured on the server, not with KMail) the command "Mark all as read" is going to mark the filtered ones as read. But exactly the ones I moved there stay unread.

Closing. If the problem still exists in recent kmail versions, please complain.
