Version: 0.10.3 (using KDE 3.4.2 Level "b" , SUSE 10.0) Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15-default I created a test account via www.icq.com and connected via licq. Then I added that contact to kopete and my kopete contact to licq. I was able to see my status in licq, but not vice versa, my test account was always offline. I could have send messages, just the status was wrong. I solved that with running licq with my primary account, add the test account to my contact list (kopete hasn't synced it there?) and it worked OK. After I quite licq and run kopete again, it works now in kopete too.
well.. i got the same problem. At least i think so. Every new account i add to my icq contact list if always shown as offline. I tried using for the first time the official icq client.. and the users i added to kopete weren't there (except for older users). So it seems like kopete just doesn't add users server side or something... i really don't know..
ok.. i know what the problem is. When ppl (not in my contact list) send me a msg they're not added server-side and that's why i can only see them offline even though i can interact with them. If i manually add them from the menu then everything is ok..
Michal: could you please clarify what the bug is? I don't understand what I need to do in order to reproduce this and get it fixed. Thanks
From comment #2 it seems that Kopete doesn't add new contacts server-side and thus they never appear online in kopete (my guess). I reproduced it this way: * create a new ICQ account <test> * add it to Kopete contact list * go online with <test> (I used licq) -> you could chat together between you and <test>, but Kopete never shows <test> as being online. I "fixed" it by closing kopete, running licq on my account and running kopete again. Then everything works as expected.
A work around is also to delete these "inactive" accounts and simple re-add them using Kopete's "add contact" wizard. This works, but is annoyingly inconvenient.
FWIW, I can confirm this (comment #2 and comment #5) as well. Moving such a contact to your list doesn't have any effect to their status nor does selecting "Add to your Contact List" from the context menu. Not a new problem either: bug 71305 (wasn't fixed by the fixing of the bug it was duped against - bug 66259).
