Description ExU 2005-09-27 16:11:07 UTC
Version: 0.4.3.1 (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
OS: Linux

I am always connected to internet over
my phone when using PC. However I can
not use KMobileTools when using GPRS Net.

(Other way around it is the same problem).

It is not possible to use GPRS Internet
together with KMobileTools
(sending SMS or accesing addressbook).

This works with M$ so it should be possible.

Probably both KPPP and KMobileTools needs some
improvement therefore I created bug for both products:

I'm already thinking on something to handle gprs in kmobiletools.. just wait for details, i'm going for a 10 days trip :P
By the way, i think it's not possible to both use AT commands for mobile management and use a gprs connection at the same time, you'll have to switch from a "GPRS mode" to a "Phone management mode".
If someone has some documentation for a better handling, he's welcome.

Comment 5 ExU 2005-09-28 13:06:00 UTC
There is technology called GPRS HOLD that allows
to send SMS or answer phonecalls while being online.
This feature must probably be supported by the driver.
Comment 6 ExU 2005-09-28 13:10:42 UTC
The driver must be able to multiplex packets
(GPRS = General PACKET Radio Service)
Comment 7 ExU 2005-09-28 15:46:54 UTC
I afraid this is place where of device files
often elegant and easy comes into trouble ...
---
There should be some intermediary multiplexing
between requests (something like printer server
sequencing requests to printer but in this case
working in both directions).
---
Probably far way too complex, and solution
wouldn't be nice, possibly in 2.8 kernel :-[

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been
unmaintained for many years and I will be closing this bug.
