Version: 1.1.2 (using KDE 3.4.2, Kubuntu Package 4:3.4.2-0ubuntu0hoary2 ) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-8ubuntu2) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.10-5-k7 Maybe I'm wrong and just didn't find the right option yet. If that's the case I'd be gratefull if somebody could point me in the right direction. When Kontact is started you have to first select (start every component) you want to "use" by itself. That's against the purpose of an "integrated PIM suite" which Kontact is I think - unlike starting e.e. KMail and Konqueror seperately. The worst part is that even if i have Kontact open I won't be reminded of my schedules and tasks unless I specifically start "Calendar" and it's additional system tray item comes up. For what it's worth everything expected from a PIM suite should be pre-loaded. If really necessary make it configurable so that users can decide what to preload and what not. Related to this kontact should not come with three seperate system tray icons. Instead there should only be one icon showing new mails as well as news items (akregator). A good tooltip can help here as well. I filed it as a bug (not a wish) because I think it is pretty serious. Maybe this shouldn't have time until KDE 4.
Your most important point has already been made in bug 112209. I leave this bug open because of the three independent system tray icons, caused by Kontact.
*** Bug 258665 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
