Version: 1.8.1 (using KDE KDE 3.4.1) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc-3.3.5-20050130 OS: Linux When trying to rename a cachedIMAP folder via "Properties", emails within the folder are deleted. The local renaming seems to work, but when kmail syncs with the server, the folder is empty. When looking at the directories on the server, the old directory is deleted and a new (empty) directory with the new name is created. We are using Courier-IMAP.

Just got bit by this on a current version of gentoo: KDE 3.5.7, kontact 1.2.5 and kmail 1.9.7, compiled with gcc version 4.1.2 (Gentoo 4.1.2 p1.0.1). I moved mail into a folder, renamed it via the Properties dialog. After I synchronized with the server, the folder was gone. Suspecting it wasn't subscribed, I checked the subscription dialog and enabled it. The folder appeard, but no mail. I double-checked on the server and the old folder had been indeed deleted and there was no mail in the new folder. Let me know if there's anything else you need to know. David Blewett
I see more or less the same with cached Imap account, using KDE 3.5.9, kmail 1.9.9 on opensuse 10.3 i586. imap server is cyrus. kmail is configured to only show subscribed folders. When the folder is renamed then the subscription gets lost, and the folder does not show up anymore. The renaming process works fine, as the folder with the new name is in the imap server available, containing all the messages. Opening the subscriptions, then the folder can be selected again. However, on new mail checking, the folder does not show up. Sometimes it helps to troubleshoot the imap cache from within kmail, refreshing the cache, and rebuilding the index, but that does not work always. Sometimes it is necessary, to create a new folder on a different way, then copy the files from the renamed folder into the new folder, and then check mail with kmail again. Then the new folder created in the other program appears in kmail too.
Is this still an issue?
For people back in the 80's it is. Can be closed now.
