Version: 1.8.1 (using KDE 3.4.1 Level "a" , unofficial build of SUSE ) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.4-52-default I just upgraded from KDE 3.3.0 to 3.4.1 and I can't believe how many things stopped working. One of those is kmail: I was happy the way it was. Now it always wants to use KWallet. No matter how often I click on "Save password", it ask EVERYTIME I want to send an email. (Thank god it seemed to get it for receiving email, it asked only once for those accounts) It also asks EVERYTIME I enter the settings for EVERY account (both sending and receiving). Sorry for the rant, but the small kicker-bug that caused me to upgrade was actually a small nuicance compared to what the whole KWallet-mess :-(
Please clarify if it's the GPG password for signing emails you're talking about, or a password for an SMTP server.
It's the password for the SMTP-server. Possibly this bug is related to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97139#c13 and/or http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99911#c2 that means if sending fails KMail forgets the password too. the problem went away after installing the crypto packages.
Didn't have such problems for some time anymore. When the password is not saved without crypto support that maybe a feature - not a bug. Please report back if this is still a problem for you.
