Version: 0.7 (using KDE 3.4.1 Level "a" , SUSE 9.3 UNSUPPORTED) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.4-20a-default My Suse KDE Menu does not match with the entrys in kmenuedit. kmenuedit shows folders and subfolders, but many applications in the real menu are not within any subfolder, and some are shown twice. Vey unpleasent, because the Suse Menu is a real mess anyway. Matthias
Coolo: This seems specific to the suse menu changes. I thought Adrian had fixed those duplicate entries though.
there are still some bugs to sort out, yes. But as you, I was under the impression the duplicated entries are history
If I can be with any help with my menu configuration files please tell me what to supply. (I have actually no idea where the menu is stored and was not able to find it out) Matthias
I've got the same problem with SUSE 9.3. The SUSE menu bears little relationship with that which is used in Kmenuedit. For instance, the first three folders - Applications, Development, and Edutainment - do not appear on the SUSE menu. I had a similar problem with 9.2, but this was cured with a KDE upgrade. I'd also like to know where the files are stored. I've found waht appear to be the ones used to store changes and history (.config/menus/applications-kmenuedit.menu, .kde/share/config/kmenueditrc) but not the master file. Graham
I raised this problem on novell.support.suse.linux.professional and Tinkerbelle pointed out that the SUSE menu ignores any empty folders. This fully explained the differences between the SUSE and kmenuedit menus. I've also added an application using kmenuedit and it appeared in the SUSE menu. As the application, GnuCash, was the only item in the "Financial" menu, the application itself did not appear in the SUSE menu but "Financial" did appear and clicking on it started GnuCash. I've seen that this is consistent with how the SUSE menu works when a folder only contains one application. I'm now satisfied that kmenuedit is working. Graham
>As the application, GnuCash, was the only item in the "Financial" menu, the >application itself did not appear in the SUSE menu but "Financial" did appear >and clicking on it started GnuCash. This means that if there is only one item in the submenu, the submenu is not shown and the application is listed in the main menu with the name of the submenu? Very bad idea in terms of usuability. I prefer the Mandrake menu structure because it is much more logical (every application is in a submenu even if there is only one item in the submenu). Even if this behaviour is now clear, I still have items twice in my menu. For example "Musicbox" = Juk and "Sequenzer" = Rosengarden. Both are the only items in the submenus musicbox and sequencer.
