Description Daniel O'Connor 2005-05-29 13:19:21 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: FreeBSD Ports
OS: FreeBSD

When I send an email and kmail needs the wallet password for my SMTP server it pops the window behind the mail window so I have to alt-tab or move the mouse to it before I can actually types the password. This is a bit of a pain - I tried to force it on top of all others using "special window settings" but that doesn't seem to work.

It would be nice if the kwallet prompt would grab keyboard focus, or forced on top (or both) - perhaps as options?

This is either a KMail bug or a kwin bug. My first guess is KMail.
Comment 2 Dominik Stadler 2005-06-01 08:51:45 UTC
The same happens here, too. Quite annoying. I always wait for the send-dialog to finish because I don't see that there is a dialog opened behind the mail-window. Only ALT-TAB shows the dialog.

I can confirm that it does not have a keyboard focus.

I also had it that it pops up behind the mail send window, but with KMail 1.8.2 from KDE 3.4.2 (Debian Sid package 3.4.2-1) I did not get this problem anymore. Maybe that behaviour is related to bug 105909.

There are 2 problems in one : the focus and the synchronous call to kwallet.

Unfortunately this is still present in Mandriva 2009, KDE 4.1.3.
Comment 9 Craig Magina 2009-03-18 15:51:21 UTC
This is still present in Fedora 10, KDE4.2.0, KMail 1.11.0, KWallet 1.4. What makes it more annoying is the fact that it comes up every time I send an e-mail.

On the same system, but now running KDE 4.2.1, KMail 1.11.1, KWallet 1.4, the kwallet dialogue now comes to the front. It also no longer asks continuously, just if kwallet is closed, as would be expected.

This is fixed for me using the above versions.

If it works, let's close it.
