Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0) Installed from: Mandriva RPMs Disclaimer: as my locales are in french, the kmail items I'm talking about may not be accurately named. Problem: although feature-rich, kmail still doesn't solve (at least to me) this legitimate need: to be notified only for a chosen, small subset of incoming emails. Proposed solution: there's a simple, trivial, already-existing way of selecting this subset of mails to be notified: the "Follow discussion" property. Up to know it is only but a graphical way of distinguish some threads from the other ones. But kmail could also provide sush "New mail in followed discussion" notification, which would give the "Follow discussion" property much more sense and power. This way, an incoming email belonging to a discussion marked as "followed" would trigger the "New mail in followed discussion" notification. That's it. Sounds simple and useful to me. What do you think ?

This is the only granularity which really makes sense to me.
