Description Heiko Braun 2005-04-10 08:54:43 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I selected a bunch of names in KAdressbook to export them as Vcards(actualy I tried in diffrent formats).
After the export there where no names in the Adressbook anymore. So I looked for the Standard-Adressbook-File, and it was 0B.
I keep the Standard-Adressbook somewhere else than in my home-directory.
It happened again: opening KAdressbook today I found it empty, and the adressbook-file had 0B. I cant tell, if it happened when the Program was endet last time, or if it just happend now at startup.
When I copied a backup of this file (which I fortunatly had) back to 'Adressbook.vcf' everything was fine again...

Hi,

are you really, really, really, really sure that you didn't do anything else then exporting? Is it reproducable?
I can hardly imagine that this should cause a delete of all contacts.

Ciao,
Tobias

yes, I did nothing 'evil' - at least I'm not aware of something.
Two days later I lost my adressbook again - and I did absolutely nothing exept
closing and reopening Kontact.

Did you add an email address to the addressbook by rightclicking on an email address
in kmail and use the 'Add to addressbook' action from the RMB menu?

Ciao,
Tobias

The development of the old KAddressBook will be discontinued for KDE 4.4.
Since the new application has the same name, but a completly new code base we close all bug reports against the old version and ask the submitters to resend there reports against the new product.
