Description T Kleindienst 2005-03-03 15:51:53 UTC
Version: 3.4 (using KDE 3.4.0, compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.29

Bug 92052: New events are duplicated with EGroupware

seems to be vaild again...

Kontact from KDE3.4 RC1, eGroupWare 1.0.0.006
PHP/4.3.10, Apache/1.3.33

another topic:
the list of contacts vanishes from time to time. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not...

and a third point:
If I create an appointment with additional attendees.. it does not appear on the web-interface of eGroupware, but is visible in KOrganizer

regards,
Thomas

another one:
After changing an event, either the changed one is displayed or all others. Which ones are shown changes randomly when reloading. After waiting a while and reloading the resource, everything is shown again.

This bug should perhaps moved to kresources/egroupware.
Comment 2 Gonéri Le Bouder 2005-03-22 15:28:21 UTC
I have 3 appointment on eGroupWare 1.0.0.006, but Korganizer (3.4) doesn't show them.

Here is the xmlrpc output.
http://orniere-du-globe.net/files/korganizer_xmlrpc_output.xml

At the and of the xml, i've this error :
korganizer: WARNING: Cannot demarshal unknown type
korganizer: WARNING: Cannot demarshal unknown type

Regards,

  Gonéri

In the addressbook: If you go the dialog for changing the egroupware addressbook (connection aso.) and just click <OK>, the contacts will appear soon.

This doesn't work for the calendar/tasks.

Looks like an eGroupware problem. You might want to try this:

Hi,

I have just applied the patch mentioned in Additional Comment #4, but is doesn't help. I still get 2 dates in egroupware after commiting one in kontact.
Comment 7 Kevin Goeser 2005-07-18 17:49:55 UTC
The patch mentioned in comment #4 seems to help only in some cases.

Another bug:
Sometimes, korganizer tries to store the tasks / appointments using the session-id as login name! The worst thing is, after failing it asks again for the username/password, but it is not possible to change this login name (the input field is deactivated). Only method is to restart kontact / korganizer.

This happens with 3.4.1 and the 1.0.0 (stable) cvs-branch of eGroupware.

*Bump* .. anything new concerning those bugs? They leave the eGroupware feature sort of unusable :(
Comment 8 Steffen Schulz 2005-08-23 14:16:50 UTC
I use as Server Suse 9.0 with eGroupware 1.0.0.008 and es Client Suse 9.3/KDE 3.4.2.
At the moment I have more or less all the bugs mentioned above.
i.e.
After changing an event, either the changed one is displayed or all others,
the list of contacts vanishes from time to time and I think a new one: only events for the next two weeks are shown in kontact.

- kde 351
- eGroupWare-1.2-1.tar.bz2
- using xmlrpc

The agenda contains 4 appointments. All of them are visible when vieuwing them
using a browser. When opening the agenda within contact, sometimes 2,
somtimes 4 appointments are visible. It is un predictable which ones are
visible

The page

http://www.egroupware.org/index.php?page_name=sync&wikipage=synchronisation+kontact

suggest

"On some installations the sync does not work after a new start. As a
workaround you can uncheck and recheck the resource, then it works."

This is not correct. Uncheck and recheck the resource results in the same
problem as described; sometimes 2, somtimes 4 appointments are visible. It is
un predictable which ones are visible.

I notices that is not possible to use a browser and kontact on the same client
- browser logged in with user2
- kontact using xmlrpc with user1

Suddenly the browser shows the details of user1. It might be a egroupware of xmlrpc issue, not able to see the difference because of the same client / ip-address
Comment 11 rene B 2006-05-06 22:42:30 UTC
There are a lot of ways to get in trouble:
- create appointment with browser and userID user1.
- refresh kontact on different client, using xmlrpc, using userID user1.

Sometimes appointments are shown within kontact, sometimes not. Refresh egw-resource do show appointments, or hides them again.
Terminating kontact and starting it again. Sometime appointments are shown, sometimes not.

Using kontact, edit the appointment that is previous created with the browser.
- sometimes updates goes OK.
- sometimes appointment gets duplicated.
next to this, after the edit-action within kontact, sometimes appointments appear of hide again.

Sorry to say, but it is complete useless like this.....
Comment 12 rene B 2006-05-06 23:37:55 UTC
with eGroupware I notices that the xmlrpc-sessions do not end. A refresh of the resource within kontact results in a new xmlrpc-session with the previous one being freed.

egroupware has this option of non-permanent php sessions. Well, lets give it a try.

the results are remarkeble.
- the xmlrpc-sessions becomes free; no multiple xmlrpc sessions.

however, 2 of the 6 appoitments got trippled. Each refresh of the agenda resource in kontact resulted in a copy of 2 of the 6 appointments.

weird.......
Comment 13 rene B 2006-05-06 23:38:42 UTC
sorry, typo:

with eGroupware I notices that the xmlrpc-sessions do not end. A refresh of the resource within kontact results in a new xmlrpc-session WITHOUT the previous one being freed.

Just to add my comments to this long-standing issue.

Using EGroupware 1.009 and Kontact 3.5.1, when I try to use egroupware's
calendar with Kontact, some entries are duplicated in korganizer, while others
don't show or only show some of the time as some other posters have already described.

This behavior is replicable and has been going on for eternity.

One would think that the kontact-egroupware sync was actually functional, since it is one of the resources that ships as part of KDE.

Additionally, using EGroupware 1.009 and Kontact 3.5.1, when I try to view my egroupware kontacts I get the following message:

"Server sent error -1: Received invalid XML markup: unexpected character at 2:2"

Strange thing is that the contact module was the one that used to work on prior kde installations.

I really hope that some engineering talent can go into fixing this problem once and for all as kontact in combination with egroupware make a wonderful combination.
Comment 15 Gualter Barbas Baptista 2006-06-11 01:04:21 UTC
I have been having all the same problems described above for several versions. Updates of both egroupware (1.2 now) and kontact (3.5.2) have not improved anything.

Regarding the contacts through the xmlrpc of egroupware, I get a similar -1 error: unexpected end of file at 24834:12.

Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created
korganizer-devel mailing list.
Comment 17 Nikolai Försterling 2009-01-13 16:50:20 UTC
Maybe some of the people/voters in this item are additionally/more interested in the issues/solving of #180564, which is about the handling and syncing of the contact fields between eGroupware and KDE via kresources/xmlrpc
Comment 18 Ralf Becker 2009-05-10 10:56:05 UTC
The current recommendation from EGroupware is to use GroupDAV. It's the only
actively developed access method to EGroupware supported by KDE!
