It certainly looks like a crash, can you please check if there is a coredump available for the time it happened. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports for information on how to get the coredump. I do not see "coredump" in that link, do you mean install that thing and debug with it? Found it, trying maybe or maybe not, maybe. I am on 22.04.4 of Ubuntu, which do I do to install? Can you try to resolve your update issues. It looks like one of the mirrors you are using has a broken file. That aside, you are running a snap packaged Kate. Can you try to update the snap? Update issues are something you'll need to take up with Ubuntu, but as Kare suggested it's likely just a mirror sync issue and will be fine if you try again. I updated Kate and it still crashes same maybe or maybe not, maybe.
Knowing what you know now, is it okay if I uninstall Kate and then install via deb? I uninstalled Kate snap and installed Kate deb, it works now but is different, sorry if I could be more helpful maybe or maybe not, maybe. It is probably a much older version so it will be a bit different. If you want a newer version either install 24.08 version from Snap, I am not sure if it works or not but 24.08 is the stable version. Or you can try the appImage which is available on the kate website. |
