- What I was doing when the application crashed:
for other reasons I decided to exit kmail. When after a while starting it again, I have the crash. The crash is reproducible 100 %. You can verity that kmail actually does not close / exit as requested but hovers zombilike in the memory. (Ksysguard). But the process is not reported as zombi. 


- Unusual behavior I noticed:

at every restart the application closes with a segfault, then however stats a new instance that apparently works. To avoid the crash you need to 
- close the application by exiting via  the menu.
- open ksysguard and kill the kontact process for the user
then you can open the application without the segfault. 

- What the software should do:
exit when asked to exit and as a result, restart without segfault.
