Earlier: Bug 275655 - Dolphin should highlight entire selected row instead of just the folder when in details-view-mode - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275655 If the desire behavior is not to select the whole line/row for better pasting files/folders, then you could at least make the whole "Name" column to be highlighted, so if anyone wants to paste in that folder instead of any sub-folder, one just have to click any other column but "Name". The idea for the whole name column being highlighted and not only around the name is for practical user's orientation. I think Dolphin has made a deviation from the convention. It has added features but it doesn't build on what users of other file managers are used to. One such thing is the break of sync from the current folder and the highlighted folder since Dolphin allows for traversing the sub-tree from a fixed current folder. In other words the tree view can be in both places: the tree panel and the details panel. I don't say it has not been useful but don't see why it is not possible to highlight the whole horizontal line. Other alternatives that come to my mind atm, are: - The whole line/row highlighted as said at the beginning, but only if you click over the name (just like atm). - When you mouseover a line/row, it is highlighted as mentioned, but if you want to select the file/folder, you have to click over it (just like atm). So in both cases, you have the better orientation I was talking about, and no inconveniences are made. If there is no hindrance to usability then it seems only technical issues the problem (KDE framework support etc.), if the developer(s) ar Ok. I imagine users will be happy to notice the change. Even it is possible to add an option in the settings to revert to the previous mode. How to wake up the issue? I have already added a note on https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275655 . Just noticed System Activity (usually Ctrl+Esc) shows some of the features both with mouse and keyboard. Of course no cut and paste but showcases a way. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 306247 *** (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #7) > > *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 306247 *** Why is it a duplicate? Because it's a request for basically the same thing, unless I'm misreading one. This is different but related. This issue should be visited anew. probably close the similar ones and summarize into a new feature request. |
