I am seeing this issue as well, and it is not restricted just to the notifier. Several plasmoids have transparent frames when they shouldn't have, and all of the tooltips in the system tray have transparent frames. Worse, some things have transparent backgrounds, which can render them virtually impossible to see if they sit on top of something dark. Hitting the little carrat that shows the hidden icons has this problem. My machine is a Dell Latitude E6330 with Intel graphics. I am attaching some screenshots that show the issue. Graphics info for my machine
Well, this doesn't seem to have anything to do with the graphics hardware. I am seeing the same thing on my System76 laptop, which has nvidia graphics. This seems to have something to do with the process of upgrading from KDE 4.9. I found that I could fix this issue by going into System Settings, changing the theme, and then changing it back. I should say that I am on Kubuntu 12.10. I got this by installing the backports. It worked partially for me. Some Plasmoids are still buggy and the icons in folder view are misplaced after every theme change. *** Bug 317351 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 318376 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** On my kubuntu systems, the workaround (pseudo fix ;-) ) was: * goto system settings * desktop effects and choose 'Default' then 'Applu' button. As the minority of my users are effected after an 4.8 -> 4.9 or 4.10 upgrade, I assume that only those see the weird frames that changes once their 'effects' effects settings. Thanks! *** Bug 320265 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 319483 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 312463 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 312672 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 317842 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 315551 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Hello! This bug report was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this bug is already resolved in Plasma 5. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this bug report. If the issue described here is still present in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
