Version: 2.0 (using KDE 3.0.2 ) Installed from: (3.0) Compiler: gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.18 OS/Compiler notes: People also have the same problem with web keyboards (with exotic keys such as WWW Mail and Search) and usually want to be able to teach KDE about these keys. (Submitted via bugs.kde.org) (Called from KBugReport dialog) *** Bug 28186 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Right now we do kind of have the ability with a loooooong list of modifications you can make under the "Advanced" tab. However this is a pretty poor user experience overall. For the common case of wanting to make one key do something different (e.g. turn Caps Lock into Compose) or swap two keys (e.g. swap the position of the Fn and Ctrl keys), the UI is overwhelming and inflexible; if the exact thing you want to do is not listed, it can't be done at all. *** Bug 228289 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 359400 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** FYI, Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator is an example of Windows program with such abilities. I'm not aware of any other examples. |
