This depends on the Phonon backend, not sure it is possible yet. I am able to get the same behaviour while running Amarok 2.5 under Windows 7. As I said, this depends on the phonon backend, not much we can do on the Amarok side. Reassigning to phonon-backend-vlc Phonon VLC has no volumefadereffect, because VLC cannot do volume fading at this time.
