Just to make sure, are you running BleachBit or similar software which may clean /var/tmp directory?

Yes. Can not duplicate the failure with or without bleach bit. Also the
new 11.04 Ubuntu is very buggy! Why change it when it was so stable.
Rember if it is not broke don't fix it. Well we'll see. Thanks Morris
