Same here. Same effect, if you place a folder on the desktop and move a file into this folder. After doing this, the view is reseted. Duplicate of Bug 242073? Works for me in KDE 4.5.3, but if I arrange the icons and start new, the icons are again at the left side. -> New icons and folderproblems are gone, but the problem with saving the icons on the screen aren't gone.
