Thanks for the bug report! This crash looks like it's related to Nepomuk. It gets reported quite frequently these days, but it seems that it only occurs on Kubuntu 10.04. Unfortunately, we don't know yet what the root cause of the bug is. A temporary workaround for people who are annoyed by these frequent crashes might be to disable Nepomuk in the System Settings. *** Bug 235152 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 235285 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 235823 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 235932 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 235941 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 235993 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 236019 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 236035 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 236082 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Note that bug 236082 is not for Kubuntu 10.04, but for KDE SC 4.4.3 on Debian. Can someone please install debug information for soprano and produce a backtrace with that. I'm new to debugging basics. (In reply to comment #14) > *** Bug 236270 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** @Sebastian: bug 234994 which looks quite similar is about a segfault in Soprano::Error::ErrorCache::clearError(), but that report (and it's duplicates) is also missing some Soprano debug info :-( Why does the automatic crash reporting system not install the required soprano debug libraries automatically? On Kubuntu, the command to install the required Soprano debug info package is sudo apt-get install libsoprano-dbg You can also install it via KPackageKit - just enter "soprano" in the text box and select the "debugging symbols..." entry. *** Bug 236296 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Thank you. It seems that there might be two possible workarounds for this issue: Disable tool tips in the Dolpin settings ("General" section) or disable Nepomuk in the System Settings ("Advanced" tab/"Desktop Search"). The cause of the crash is still unknown - it looks like a memory corruption problem that is quite difficult to debug :-( *** Bug 238960 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 240759 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 242817 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 243428 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Created attachment 48645 [details]

dolphin (1.5) on KDE Platform 4.4.90 (KDE 4.4.90 (KDE 4.5 RC1)) using Qt 4.7.0
Dolphin crashed on KDE's startup, after a forced shutdown. I'm running KDE 4.5 RC1, on a Fedora 13 distro amd64.

Dolphin sometimes crashes on startup on Mandriva 2010.1 x64. I'm fully up to date with official sources (Dolphin 1.4 on KDE 4.4.3). I have been unable to find a method to reproduce this consistently.

Not sure that I sure comment here to you about this ... but will, my machine has 8G and a large swap and cache so I saw no reason to jack up the memory available to the process. That turned against me increasing cpu load (dual core AMD) and was reduced to 128MB where it sits now. I try to remember to turn off indexing when moving files. I've been reorganizing libraries that are on NTFS platters available to Samba. Recently while moving some PDF's, (ext4fs) after the move the folder was placed in Trash ... no accounting for good taste I guess ... I have also taken the NTFS platters off the indexing assignment for the time being. I'm not sure if the acl's on the NTFS platters have a hand in this or not. One last point in the matter, when using the "Alt+F2" kio to find material the list can be propagated with a number of similar but none descriptive file names ... proof of chaos right there.

dolphin (1.6.1) on KDE Platform 4.6.1 (4.6.1) using Qt 4.7.2
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I opened Dolphin, and in my Home dir I couldn't see any folder (Desktop, Documents, etc.), so I hit F5, which showed them all for a second, before crashing.

Ye, I had a lot of crashes because of Nepomuk on Kubuntu, but since KDE 4.7 and Kubuntu 11.10 I had none. You should really try to upgrade to KDE 4.8 or newer guys. No reports for KDE 4.7 or KDE 4.8, fixed in Nepomuk. |
