Description Philippe ROUBACH 2009-12-26 23:27:51 UTC
Version: 1.3.80 (using 4.3.85 (KDE 4.3.85 (KDE 4.4 Beta2)), Mandriva Linux release 2010.1 (Cooker) for i586)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.32.2-desktop-2mnb

when viewing folder contents i see movie preview

when using dolphin selector from within digikam
i see photo preview but no movie preview (for example .mov)

i use mplayerthumbnail+mplayer to have movie preview
with dolphin
Comment 1 Philippe ROUBACH 2009-12-27 13:56:22 UTC
addendum :

i don't use phonon but mplayer as mplayerthumbnail engine

curiously in dolphin selector we see movie preview in its right panel
Comment 2 Peter Penz 2010-01-05 11:14:02 UTC
Thanks for the report! Do you mean with "dolphin selector" the file-open dialog?

yes

i saw this is an old pb i use kde 3.5.9 same pb with konqueror file selector

addendum : in my comments the good name is not "mplayerthumbnail" but "mplayerthumb"
Comment 4 Peter Penz 2010-01-05 12:00:33 UTC
OK, I've assigned it to kdelibs (Dolphin is not used for the file-open dialog)

can you investigate this bug report
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199985

it's also a pb using what i call "dolphin selector" to access dc card for writing

perhaps also a kdelibs pb ?

- Does this happen with several movie files ?
- If you use the same video file to test, does Dolphin show it, but the filedialog doesn't ?
- Can you post screenshots of this issue ?
Regards

Adding the mplayerthumbs maintainer
Comment 7 Philippe ROUBACH 2010-01-22 18:55:43 UTC

file_dialog

i open digikam
i go to import dialog
then
i go to upload dialog
then
you see the file dialog

in the file dialog
- in the folder contents the movie icon is not a preview
- in the right panel you see the movie preview

konqueor_file_dialog

now
i open konqueror
i select file/open a file
then
file dialog windows appears

you see in file dialog
- in the folder contents the movie icon is a preview
- in the right panel there is a preview

strange : digikam and konqueror file dialog are different

digikam_import_dialog

another case

in digikam, open import dialog from camera
you see icon preview for picture but not for movie

The last image is about Digikam, which I think implements its folder browsing in a different way. You could create a wish report for Digikam to support this movie previews.

yes i forget my own bug report !
i already filled a bug report for digikam support
it seems it is a gphoto pb : libgphoto does not create a movie preview icon
