This problem still remains in KDE 4.6. This issue should be converted to a bug - because this is one of the reasons why i chnaged my desktop environment to gnome/ubuntu :-) Gnome handles changing monitor setups in a much smarter way than kde. I agree with Marc, and think this issue should be divided into two problems: (a) Bug: The monitor setup is not saved. I would rate this as a bug, as it can be changed in the control center of KDE, and the users expect changes made there to persist after a reboot. (b) Feature request: Allow defining different profiles (e.g. "office", "presentation", and "mobile"). (a) is not mentioned in this report, and (b) is really a dupe of #176370, so this should probably be closed.
