I cannot shutdown or restart the pc, only through command line. Firefox halts randomnly and must be closed killing the process. I had this same problem and when I removed the plasmoid I was able to successfully start KDE with no internet connection without crashing as described above. Thanks, for your suggestion, I'll observe the next crash.
