A friend of mine has a giant avatar, it is resized in contact list and in the chat window, but in the notifications it is shown fullsize.. which takes much of my screen.

Hi,
I can confirm that. that's really annoying. For me it's also not resized in the contact list (in the field shown on mouse-over). But most annoying is the size in the notifications.

Here, avatar are resized in contact list but no in notifications!

In kde 4.4, all notification look too fat! Look at amarok one to see diff.

Bug still not fixed. Giant avatar (~4000x4000 pix) can cause https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12309 .
A have a contact (his client - tkabber trunk version), with giant avatar - popup window takes a lot of RAM (150-200 mb) and freezes the system.
Another contact has giant avatar too (his client pidgin 2.7.7) - popup window is ok, avatar is resized to 60x60 or something.

I no longer have any account that works on kopete since xmpp was dropped by
Google FB and slack.

I now use IRC. localslackirc and telegram

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
