Description Panagiotis Papadopoulos 2009-04-24 21:56:31 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

After updating from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 I am unable to use the middle mouse button in Konqueror

Since I though this would be some sort of misconfiguration on my machine, I first started a thread on forum.kde.org
http://forum.kde.org/konqueror-weird-middle-mouse-button-problem-t-43333.html

I'll just paste the relevant stuff I wrote there here:

Konqueror used to open links and close tabs with a middle click on my system.
Recently this does not work anymore in Konqueror, but in other apps like Dolphin it does work fine.
I already tried to remove my konquerorrc but this didn't help at all.

The strange thing now is that, if I open the Konqueror settings dialog and let it opened, I can use the middle mouse button on links and close tabs with it.
Also if I start Konqueror in a fluxbox session, the middle clicks work too...
I use Arch Linux with (the vanilla, not KDEmod) KDE 4.2.2, Kernel 2.6.29.1 and Xorg-Server 1.6.0.

another thing I noticed:

If I middle click on an empty space in konqueror, "autoscroll" is not "activated" (I hope you get what I mean)

Bugs https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=190552 and https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=190551 describe the same behaviour.

Same here, Can't open a new tab without having the settings dialog open. Weird xD

Thanks for the bug report! There seems to be a problem with Konqueror 4.2.2 using X 1.6.0 on some distros (I can't reproduce it on Kubuntu 9.04).
