I don't see a "stack" here but they do move back to some position they like. E.g. I can't have the trash icon in the left bottom corner, it flies back somewhere after I drag it. It's simply impossible to place widgets where you want them. I can confirm the problem on my KDE-4.2.0 running Bluewhite64. The first activity has its widgets properly placed. On the second activity every time I try to place a widget on a certain place it moves by itself. Trying to place a second widget makes it move next (be it bellow or to the left/right) of the previous widget. *** Bug 183901 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I can confirm this on kde 4.2 on opensuse 11.1. For me this happens when I change activity type from desktop to plain desktop. I do believe an X restart or a plasma restart (kquitapp plasma && plasma) will fix this issue, can somebody please test this out? I fixed it for me, and another person on IRC - (I can't recall if that was all you had to do - I think so, but it was quite a long time ago now) Yes restarting kde moves the widgets on proper locations and they don't move automatically in stack but this issue can be reproduced by changing the activity type to plain desktop. I can reproduce the issue by switching from Desktop to Plain Desktop (or vice versa). Don't use activities at all. Once widgets start stacking, only logoff/logon can fix it. openSUSE 11.1 for x86_64, latest 4.2.0 rpms from openSUSE's build service. *** Bug 183039 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** As I stated on bug 183039, I can't reproduce this on current 4.3trunk *** Bug 191190 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Similar problem with KDE 4.3 Beta1 (Kubuntu Jaunty): in a folderview activity I add a folderview widget by dragging it somewhere onto the desktop. Then I move it to another position. I quit KDE, relogin - and the folderview widget is back at the position it first touched the desktop. I delete it, I try again, same procedure, it always is fixed to the position where it entered the desktop. I resize it and after relogin it's back to its initial size. No matter if the widgets are locked or not when logging out. It also doesn't work when I change the activity role to standard plasma desktop. @Janet: could you please file a new bug report? (as it is a different issue) Thanks!! Comment #11 and #12: Bug 195479 this issue should no longer happen; it was a matter of the screen size not being propagated properly at first creation. *** Bug 196626 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** |
