Description Tanja Schulte 2009-06-06 18:21:07 UTC
Version: KDE 4.3 Beta1 (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I'm using Kubuntu 9.04 with KDE 4.3 Beta1. The widgets on the desktop don't remember their size and position in most cases. E.g. when I add a folderview widget to the desktop by dragging it from the widget browser to a reachable position on the desktop not covered by the widget browser, then close the widget browser, move the widget to the top of the screen and resize it to whole screen height, everything'S fine. But when I log out and back in, the folderview widget is at the same position where I dragged it from the widget browser (middle left side of screen) and has the default size. This also happens when I don't resize the widget but only move it or don't move it but only resize it. It also happens with widgets that I had on my desktop before I upgraded to 4.3 Beta1: I could move and resize them in 4.2.x but in 4.3 Beta1 they always go back to their old position after relogin.

this certainly doesn't happen with trunk/; sounds like something's not kosher in the packages. if you do: `kquitapp plasma-desktop` without logging out, does it crash?
Comment 2 Tanja Schulte 2009-06-07 13:01:23 UTC
When I execute "kquitapp plasma-desktop" in konsole nothing happens except for a message "Invalid D-BUS interface name 'org.kde.plasma-desktop.PlasmaApp' found while parsing introspection".

But it does work now...
