Are you sure that your kdebase rev. is correctly? I can reproduce this problem on a KDE 4.1 Beta 1 system (F9 with rawhide). If you try to search a widget there, the problem you describe appears. However on another system with the same kdebase rev. I am not able to reproduce the problem. You might want to do a rebuild - the problem might have gone already.
Comment 2 Christophe Marin 2008-05-29 23:52:55 UTC
I can reproduce it even with rev 814305. So yes, I'm sure.
Comment 3 Luka Renko 2008-05-30 18:03:57 UTC
I have also up-to-date SVN and can reproduce this (not always, but in most cases) by doing search (typing some widget name) and when te list is getting filtered it looses icons (as on attached screenshot). No way to get it back, besides closing te window and opening it again.
Comment 4 Christophe Marin 2008-05-30 18:17:55 UTC
Luka, there's a possible workaround : try resizing the applets window and see if something changes. (works here at least)

Reopen, I'm still able to reproduce it (kdebase rev. 821264)

ereslibre * r844943 workspace/trunk/KDE/kdebase/workspace/libs/plasma/appletbrowser/ (4 files):
Fix the problem that can be reproduced by:
- Scroll the applets view
- Search whatever
That will make the view completely unusable by hiding all titles and comments about applets.

bug still present, I am able to reproduce this problem with
qt-copy: 905254, kdebase:905255, kdelibs: 905232 (trunk updated and compiled about 7hrs ago)

to reproduce:
1. rightclick on desktop
2. add widgets
3. in the dropdown list change to 'my fabourite widgets'
4. change the dropdown list selection to 'all widgets' and back to 'my favourite widgets'
5. all text and icons missing :(

please reopen this

Comment 16 Christophe Marin 2009-01-04 12:06:37 UTC
ok. reopen (comment #15).

I can't reproduce this issue anymore with a 4.1.87 snapshot.
Comment 17 SlashDevDsp 2009-01-05 05:10:59 UTC
I can confirm this with trunk updated about 5hrs ago with qt-copy: 905750, kdebase:905751,kdelibs: 905750

In bug 177356 I described another steps to reproduce the bug.

BTW, still valid here using:

Qt: 4.4.3 + qt-copy-patches-889120
KDE: 4.2.60 (KDE 4.2.60 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090106))
kdelibs svn rev. 908156 / kdebase svn rev. 908156
on ArchLinux x86_64 - Kernel 2.6.27.10

I can confirm this behavior with 4.2 final.

Steps to reproduce:
1) open "add widget" window
2) do any kind of action with the widget list window (scrolling, adding, rating, getting infos...)
3) select another category

I can always reproduce it this way. If I select another category without doing anything before all items are showed correctly.

Similar experience with Mandriva 2009.1 Cooker Alpha2 (package kdebase4-4.2.0-2mdv) when adding widgets for _the first time_

1. Add Widgets Dialog opens with full list and icons
2. Filter for Date and Time, Astronomy or any other class and both icons and text descriptions disappear. Stars/info icons at right hand side appear 'greyed out' or slightly obscured / clouded over
3. Close dialog
4 reopen and filter as per 2. Now works and icons and descriptions can be seen

Comment 24 Dario Andres 2009-03-20 12:52:47 UTC
Here using:

Qt: 4.5.0 + qt-copy-patches-936035
KDE: 4.2.66 (KDE 4.2.66 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090310))
kdelibs svn rev. 939600 / kdebase svn rev. 939602
on ArchLinux i686 - Kernel 2.6.28.7

I can't reproduce anymore :)
Can anyone else confirm this ?
Comment 25 Jonathan 2009-03-20 13:37:51 UTC
I can confirm it. I'm also using ArchLinux i686 with the 2.6.28.7 Kernel.
Qt: 4.5.0
KDE: 4.2.1

The last time I tried this behavior was after the update to KDE 4.2.1 and it still existed. After that I have updated Qt to 4.5.0 so I think that this bug is resolved with Qt 4.5.0.
Comment 26 Dario Andres 2009-04-01 23:48:48 UTC
Marking as UPSTREAM. Fixed with Qt4.5
Comment 27 Nicolas L. 2009-04-02 05:34:14 UTC
do you know if there is any patch available ?
Comment 28 Nicolas L. 2009-04-02 05:40:53 UTC
i loose the content of the cashew, it become empty sometimes, do you think this can be related or i need to fill an other bugreport ?
Comment 29 Dario Andres 2009-04-02 23:53:37 UTC
@Nicolas: I don't know if there is a standalone patch for Qt4.4.x. About the Cashew.. do you mean the options "Add Widget, Lock/Unlock , Settings" when you click the cashew? I think you should file a new bug report.
Thanks
