I know a lot of people hate the idea of HTML formatting, but this is the way corporate e-mail is going, and it needs to be at least an _option_ in KMail. That said, the HTML formatting included thus far is good, but is missing a couple helpful items.

1) Inserting a link. GMail's method of doing this is simple and easy, even for the computer-challenged. Since half of all e-mails are just pointing/referring people to other things, and since corporations are constantly linking to varying parts of their websites/policies, this seems relevant.

2) Edit text background color. I can't imagine this functionality isn't already a part of KMail, there just isn't any GUI way of going about it. It helps to be able to highlight things in a forwarded article, email, etc.

3) Indenting a block of text, or quoting a block of text (again, GMail provides some good examples of this - indenting can be done easily, especially for lists and sub-list-lists, and quoting provides a vertical gray line to the left of the quoted text).

The ability to insert tables wouldn't be too awful, either, but inserting links and background color are my major issues right now.

Thanks!

Point 1) is already covered in bug #102924.

See also bug #99748 and bug #141376.

I think that as a minimum I just need support for <table>, <tr>, <td>, <img>, <hr>, <h1>, <h2> and <h3> tags. The other ones are already there, so adding these tags to kmail editor would let us do most of the things we need for html mails.

Table support is already requested in bug #46411

I don't use HTML for e-mail but some people can't live without it like my mom for instance, and currently support is rudamentary at best!

So please, please, give better support for HTML! I mean how hard can it be?

My mom would greatly appreciate it, and my ears too :D

Thanks for your astonishing work on the rest of kmail, which to me is the best e-mail client there's ever been.

table support implemented in 4.10.

<h1>, <h2> and <h3> tags for the moment I don't know how to do.
Will continue to investigate it

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.
Comment 8 Luigi Toscano 2012-08-19 00:28:21 UTC
Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
