KDE version was entered as 3.5.4 (as packaged with not Kubuntu 6.10), not sure why it comes up as unspecified here. It still works. I tested with 3.5.5 doing "Add new Panel -> Panel". Right-click on the Panel brings up the dialog. In this dialog there is at the top a combobox "Settings for:" in which you can select which of all your panels you want to change things. The Suse updates are right now by 3.5.5 "release 45" and I have the problem. That combo box has been gone for several versions already, at least in Kubuntu packages. It's quite frustrating not having it. I was able to reproduce this on kde 3.5.6. I was walking somebody through the steps of adding a panel and they complained that it was changing the size for the wrong panel. Anyway, I tried it myself. I added a panel by right clicking on my main (only) panel. Then I dragged it up to the top. Then I right clicked on the new empty panel and selected configure panel. There was no drop down to change which panel I was setting settings for, and it was changing settings for the main panel. Notice the "position" widget in the attachment that follows. no drop down, and its changing settings on wrong panel
I can confirm this bug for Debian 4.0 x86 on KDE 3.5.5, when I click configure panel, it defaults to main panel (though I can change this) neither the main panel nor the proper selection panel does anything. I can change the settings of the main panel from it's own right click menu. When I drag the original panel to the top of the screen, the configuration dialog still lists it as being on the bottom panel. In KDE 3.5.7 in opensuse 10.2 it works correctly, but in KDE 3.5.7 (newer revision) in opensuse 10.3 it works incorrectly. Why this bug report is closed -- it is obvious this bug goes and comes back, anyway it still bites. For solution (workaround) see: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136593 |
